It’s only been six games of professional baseball for the Pirates first overall pick Henry Davis so far, but they’ve been really good so far.

In two games in the rookie Florida Complex League and four at High-A Greensboro, the 21-year-old is hitting .421 going 8 for 19, with two doubles, one triple, seven RBI and three homeruns.

He’s also slugging 1.105 and an OPS of 1.584.

In his first game in the Pirates organization, in the beginning of the month, Davis hit a home run and doubled.

Davis then was promoted to High-A late last week and hit his first professional homerun earlier this week, and course has hit two more since.

Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington said last week that Davis didn’t need much time in the rookie Florida Complex League.

“He came to Pirates City ready to go from a playing standpoint,” said Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington.  “We weren’t surprised by that, but he was pretty much in game shape and ready to compete from game one.  That allowed him to get into games pretty quickly there.”
