PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of final awards to end the Pirates 2026 season as Jared Jones was named the National League Pitcher of the Month and Mason Montgomery the NL Reliever of the Month.
Jones is the second Pirates pitcher ever to win the award, joining Paul Skenes (award started in 2018). The 25-year-old pitched 29 innings, 4 walks, 40 strikeouts and a 0.93 ERA with a 0.59 WHIP and .133 batting average against. Jones gave up no runs and only one hit in September starts to the playoff-bound White Sox and one-hit to St. Louis.
Following up a 0.00 ERA in August, Montgomery converted 11 of 12 save chances with a 0.92 WHIP, .174 batting average against and 2.88 ERA in September. The lefty established himself as the closer in his first year with the team.
