UPDATE:
The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced right-handed pitcher Thomas Harrington is being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The team made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
The 23-year-old rookie, taken 36th overall by the Pirates in the 2022 draft, went 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA over two appearances (one start) so far this season.
He started April 1 in Tampa against the Rays, giving up six runs and seven hits over 4 innings of work.
That includes two strikeout and four walks.
Harrington got the save on Monday night against the Cardinals, going another four innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits.
He struck out five and walked one.
A corresponding move will be made by the Pirates before beginning a weekend series against the Reds in Cincinnati.
Harrington is the #3 ranked prospect in the Pirates organization behind RHP Bubba Chandler and shortstop/outfielder Konnor Griffin.
