According to reports, the Pirates have traded for Tampa Bay Rays prospect Alika Williams.
According to the Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey and other sources, the Pirates are trading right-handed pitcher Robert Stephenson.
Williams, an infielder, was taken 37the overall by the Rays in the 2020 draft.
He’s batting .237 over 156 at bats for the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits this season with 37 hits, five home runs, 23 RBI and an OPS of .731.
He’s batting .254 over his career with 20 home runs 131 RBI and .714 OPS.
Stephenson is 0-3 so far this season with a 5.14 over 18 games.
He has 17 strike outs over 14 innings.
Stephenson was claimed off waivers by the Pirates last August 27 and signed a one-year deal before this season for $1.75 million.
