PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Bryan Reynolds, Andrew McCutchen and Jack Suwinski all homer in Pirates 5-2 win over the Rockies.

Reynolds opened up the scoring immediately with a solo homer in the first inning.

In the bottom of the 5th, the Rockies had runners on second and third with nobody out. Brendan Doyle hit a fly ball to right field at Connor Joe. Joe made the catch and made a perfect throw to the plate to get Adael Amador out at home.

"It kind of flipped the momentum switch a little bit," said manager Derek Shelton. "I didn't think he had a chance at him and he made a really strong play and Henry made a strong tag. I think overall, defensively is what carried us tonight. It's nice to hit the homers, our pitching did a really nice job. Defensively, we played about as well as we could play today."

Colorado tied the game on an Ezequiel Tovar triple scoring Charlie Blackmon from second.

Pittsburgh took the lead back in the 6th with McCutchen's home run to center field. It went 448 feet, his longest home run tracked by statcast. Suwinski extended the lead with a two run shot in the 7th, it traveled 459 feet. He hit one 461 feet at Coors last season. Reynolds added another RBI in the top of the 8th with a single that scored McCutchen.

"We did a good job. I mean Bryan got us on the board early and then Cutch dead center and then Jack's was big. I think it was big for Jack and for us. Overall really good swings," said manager Derek Shelton.

Reynolds ended the month of May 1 for 16, he is hitting .340 in June and is riding a 12 game hit streak.

"He got back into his legs," said Shelton. "I think when we see Bryan get into his legs you see really good things happen. In the at bat where he got the base hit up the middle, he fouled off some tough pitches, balls that are at 101 and then the changeup or splitter. You don't see many hitters that are able to foul off pitches and continue the at bat like he did."

The Pirates threw a bullpen game and were effective with it. Carmen Mlodzinski was the opener in this game, allowing 1 hit and struck out 2. Luis Ortiz earned the win, he pitched 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run, and struck out 3 batters. Ortiz improves to 3-2 with a 2.51 ERA.
