According to Pirates manager Derek Shelton, the team never considered not playing the scheduled double header against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday.
Shelton said before Game 1 that he did speak with individual players about any concerns that they have but did not share what was said in those conversations.
Several NBA and MLB games were postponed on Wednesday in protest of the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man who was shot seven times in the back while police say he was reaching for something in his car.
Police responded to a domestic situation that Blake was a part of. Officers tried to arrest Blake and used a taser to stop him but were unsuccessful.
Investigators say Blake had a knife in his car.
On Thursday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had a discussion with his players but unlike several other teams, decided to continue with practice.
