The MLB locked out its players at Midnight on Thursday.

Following the move, MLB ceased promoting players on websites removing photos and player articles.

On Thursday morning, the Pirates released the following statement:

Despite Major League Baseball's (MLB) best efforts to reach an agreement, the collective bargaining agreement has expired. AS a result, MLB has taken the step of locking out Major League players in the hopes of accelerating the process to reach an agreement.
Like our fans, we as an organization are disappointed in the situation.

We have faith in Commissioner Manfred and the leadership team at MLB. We are confident that there is a path to an agreement and both sides will work together to strengthen the game we all love.

While we are not able to make any Major League roster moves during this time, we will continue to work on the development of our talented minor league players. We remain laser focused on continuing to execute our plan of developing this next wave of talent that will fuel the future of our success in Pittsburgh.

Above all else, we appreciate our fans and their patience as we work through this process. We very much look forward to a resolution so we can open up the 2022 season on time in front of our fans at PNC Park.
