PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Homering in his first game at PNC Park on Tuesday and also Sunday in the Pirates win at Toronto, rookie outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez sent to AAA and the Bucs have recalled infielder/outfielder Tyler Callihan from Indianapolis.
A 25-year-old, left-handed hitter, Callihan had a .223 average and .651 OPS in AAA with six doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in 49 AAA games. This season Callihan has played 10 games at second base, 19 games at third base, 20 in left field and one in right field.
Callihan came to the Pirates in the trade for relief pitcher Kyle Nicolas.
