The Pirates have added another catcher.

The organization announced on Thursday that they have signed Tony Wolters to a minor league contract, that includes and invite to Spring Training.

The 28-year-old California native spend the 2020 season with the Colorado Rockies making 35 starts (fifth in the National League) hitting .230 with four doubles and eight RBI over 42 games.

Wolters had a successful 2019 season behind the plate ranking third among all National League catchers with 20 runners caught stealing and was errorless from August 16, 2018 to August 19, 2019, the longest streak in Colorado's history.

Wolters was picked by Cleveland in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft and was then claimed off waivers by the Rockies in 2016.

Wolters has a career batting average of .238 over five season with Colorado and is projected by Baseball Reference to bat .235 in 2021 with 14 doubles, five home runs and 42 RBI.

Last month, the Bucs signed 29-year old catcher Joe Hudson to a minor league deal with an invite to big league camp.
