PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) With first pitch of the 2022 MLB Season just a day away, the Pittsburgh Pirates had to make a move to finish filling out the 40-man roster.

With an injury to Greg Allen, according to sources, the Pirates signed veteran outfielder Jake Marisnick.

At 31, Marisnick has played nine years in the MLB with five teams and a World Series victory with the Houston Astros in 2017.

More of a glove than a bat, Marisnick has a career .216 batting average with 433 hits and 61 home runs.

In the field, Marisnick is a pretty stellar force; since his debut in 2013 he's been worth 75 defensive runs saved according to FanGraphs.

Only seven outfielders rank above 75 and a 13th rank for 41 outs above average.

The Pirates will be Marisnick's sixth team which included the Miami Marlins, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and San Diego Padres.

He was signed as a free agent in mid-March with the Texas Rangers but has since freed up for the Pirates.
