PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Even without some of the success he had in his first two seasons, Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes named to his third consecutive All-Star Game Saturday night.
The 24-year-old is 6-8 over 18 starts this year with a 3.62 ERA with 119 strikeouts (4th in the National League) to 22 walks over 97 innings. Skenes has a 1.01 WHIP and a .211 batting average against.
Brandon Lowe snubbed for All-Star Game
His first two seasons, Skenes was the starting pitcher for the National League. He joins Rip Sewell and Elroy Face as the only Bucs pitchers named in three straight seasons. Skenes is the first Pirates player selected to three consecutive All-Star Games since Andrew McCutchen was in five straight from 2011-15.
