Someone recently pointed out on Twitter that former Pirates pinch hitter and outfielder Gary Varsho’s son was born nine months and one day after he retired from baseball in 1995.

So, we pretty much know how Varsho, who also spent time coaching for the Pirates, celebrated his retirement.

Varsho retired on October 1, 1995. Daulton Varsho was born on July 2, 1996. Daulton is entering his fourth year in the Majors.

The older Varsho played for the Pirates the last time they won the division in 1991 and 1992. He returned for another year in 1994 before retiring with Philadelphia the next year.

Varsho batted .251 over his three seasons in Pittsburgh with 50 RBI and eight home runs.

He filled in in all three positions in the outfield and played a little first base time to time.

The younger Varsho, recently traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, played his first three seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The outfielder and catcher has a lifetime batting average of .234 with 121 RBI and 41.

As they say, the internet remains undefeated.
