The Steelers were battered not only on the field Sunday against Las Vegas, but also were battered by injuries.
Coach Mike Tomlin addressed those injuries during his weekly press conference on Tuesday and two big names are on that list.
On top of outside linebacker T.J. Watt suffering a groin injury in-game on Sunday, Tomlin says fellow OLB Alex Highsmith has the same injury.
In addition, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is on the injured list with a left pectoral issue.
Tomlin wouldn't elaborate on his QB's participation this week but says they will adjust and be prepared either way.
Tomlin also admitted that Roethlisberger is taking too many hits and that the run game needs to improve.
Cornerback Joe Haden and linebacker Devin Bush who were ruled out for Sunday's game will attempt to get back to work this week with Tomlin saying their participation or lack thereof will "be their guide."
Tomlin says they'll give whoever is available to practice the ability to practice since groin or soft-tissue injuries can be tricky when it comes to recovery time.
As reported on Monday, wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who suffered a knee injury late in the game, is not expected to be out for a long length of time, but his status for Sunday is unknown.
"Looking better but not to be confused with great," Tomlin said about.
That's a lot of star players that could potentially out for their AFC North rivalry game this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, but Tomlin says they have the players to win.
"we have all the answers in house," said Tomlin. "We have a week to prepare . . . in-game injures cause more problems than known issues."
