PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – While the Steelers have three more years of Kenny Pickett under a rookie deal, the other teams in the AFC North all have quarterbacks making big money. The latest in Cincinnati.
Days after San Francisco’s Nick Bosa gets a record contract for a defensive player, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow sets the NFL record with a $275 million contract with $219.01 guaranteed. In his three seasons, Burrow led the Bengals to the Super Bowl in 2021 and the AFC Championship game in 2022.
Here is how the AFC North QB salaries look
· Joe Burrow-Cincinnati-$275 million contract, $219 million guaranteed
· Lamar Jackson-Baltimore-$260 million contract, $185 million guaranteed
· Deshaun Watson-Cleveland-$230 million contract, $230 million guaranteed
· Kenny Pickett-Steelers-$14 million contract, $14 million guaranteed
It’s a complete reversal of the last few years when the Steelers had Ben Roethlisberger on a big contract and Burrow and Jackson were on rookie deals as was Baker Mayfield in Cleveland.
Burrow is expected to play after a calf injury during training camp as the Bengals open at Cleveland, Ravens home to Houston and the Steelers hosting San Francisco all at 1p on Sunday.
