Primanti Bros. said if Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson “cooked” on Sunday night against the Jets, they would release a sandwich dedicated to the veteran QB.
Well, cook he did, putting up 264 yards with two passing touchdowns and one rushing.
On Tuesday morning, Primanti announced the release of the DangeRuss Sandwich, an homage to the Dangerwich, which was briefly sold in the Denver area when he was the Broncos QB.
The sandwich has pepperoni, salami, ham and bacon, topped with Provolone cheese, signature fresh-cut fries, coleslaw, and tomato.
Even better, $1 dollar from each sandwich sold will be donated to UPMC Children’s Hospital, as long as Wilson remains QB1 with the Steelers.
Wilson visits UPMC Children’s Hospital every week to spend time with kids currently there.
“We figured that if Russ was going to cook on Sunday – we should cook this week,” said Jim Prezioso, Primanti Bros. “He’s already looking better than when he was in Denver – and we think our version of his classic sandwich is a little better, too – and with fries and slaw, certainly a whole lot more Pittsburgh.”
The sandwich is available for dine-in and online ordering.
“The DangeRuss Sandwich is the latest addition to our gameday menu,” said Prezioso. “But we’re most excited about the opportunity to raise funds for the UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Russ has always supported children’s hospitals wherever he’s played – and we honored to continue to bring attention to the great work of our local team of doctors, nurses and support staff that care for Pittsburgh’s youngest fans.”
The DangeRuss Sandwich is available for a limited time, so stay up-to-date with Primanti Bros. on social media for the latest updates.
