Another failing coaching performance from Tomlin in Eagles loss
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been named by many as a possible Coach of the Year candidate but on Sunday, we saw the opposite of that.
On the Pomp and Joe Show Monday, Joe Starkey called it coaching malpractice.
Before the game, the one advantage that some experts said the Steelers had was the coaching staff.
Tomlin, Danny Smith, Arthur Smith vs. Nick Sirianni and his crew.
It actually worked the other way. "Sirianni was the one not living in his fears at the end," said Starkey. "Letting his guy throw from the goal line. Tomlin was the one punting from the other team's 46 (yard line) with 11 minutes left down two touchdowns."
Tomlin's clock management continues to boggle the mind. The Steelers lost nearly 30 seconds at the end of the first half.
There was 1:55 left in the first half and Tomlin didn't call a time out until just under 1:30 remaining.
"I got caught up on some information, and I'll just leave it at that," Tomlin said after the same.
Clock management continues to be an issue for Tomlin and has been for years. Yet, there is never a proposed solution?
How about a game clock-specific coach?!
Fan Morning Show hosts Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson both game Tomlin an "F" for his coaching performance on Sunday, agreeing with The Post-Gazette's Ray Fittipaldo in his post-game grades.
"The Steelers had a real opportunity to tie the score before halftime but had to settle for a field goal because Tomlin blew it," Fittipaldo writes. "It's not like this is the first time Tomlin has struggled with his clock management, and yet the Steelers don't assign a coach to help him."
More concerning, this is the second "F" coaching performance recently. He and his staff delivered a failing grade a few weeks ago in Cleveland.
The definition of insanity…
