Zach Banner says other teams were interested before coming back to Steelers

Banner Says He's Looking To Reward Steelers For Faith In Him

On Tuesday, Zach Banner revealed he had resigned with the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Wednesday he revealed to the PM Team that he had other offers including two AFC North teams.

"There were other offers," Banner told Poni, Mueller and former Steeler Arthur Moats.

Banner says he was walking down the beach last week in California and was thinking he might actually be in another uniform next season.

"Last week, especially before I came back it was just, I was walking down Redondo Beach . . . it was just one of those things man when I was walking I was thinking, damn, I might have to put on another uniform," said Banner.

Banner adds that he had to take the offers seriously because at the end of the day for the players, the NFL is a business.

"We have to make the best decisions that best for us, that's why we can't be mad at the guys we lost," said Banner. "I mean those guys make life changing money, I'm not there yet, I mean this is great I'm really grateful, it's a lot of money, but it's not where I want to stop."

Banner says both Coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told him they wanted him back.

Coach T called me a couple weeks ago before I went to L.A.
. . . It was just one of those situations were coach T told me to hold tight we're going to get everything done, Ben had reached out and told me we're going to get everything done and we did, so it was easy."

Tomlin says he wants Banner at right tackle in 2021, but he says he'll do whatever the team asks of him.

Banner adds he him signing a multi-year deal because he wanted to help the team out.

His two-year deal is worth nearly $9.8 million.
