The Steelers lost some significant players to free agency before it has even officially begun, but they have also been able to hold on to a few pieces.
Steelers offensive lineman Zach Banner revealed on social media Tuesday afternoon that he is coming back.
"Wanted to be the first to tell you guys, that Pittsburgh's going to be my home," Banner said in the message thanking Kevin Colbert and Art Rooney II.
Banner fought in training camp for the starting right tackle position but was had a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the 2020 season against the New York Giants.
NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala says it's a two-year deal.
Has quickly emerged as one of the more popular Steelers on the team. He has hosted an entertaining weekly radio show on The Fan the past two seasons and his B3 Foundation started the Geno Fillipponi Memorial Foundation, named after the late son of Fan host Andrew Fillipponi and his wife Amanda.
Banner added in the video that it's also a bittersweet day with players like Tyson Alualu and Mike Hilton signing elsewhere for more money.
A fourth round pick of the Colts in 2017, Banner was released by Indy and played in eight games with the Browns his rookie year.
The USC offensive tackle signed with Carolina and after being released, signed with the Steelers.
Banner spent 2018 on the team's practice squad and 2019 as a fan-favorite as when announced as a tackle eligible when coming in for blocking situations.
Banner is huge, 6'8", 335 pounds. He worked hard to drop around 30 or more pounds to win the job and could be the best run blocker on the line.
