The Steelers offense is once again being called out for being too easy to predict.
After Sunday's 37-30 loss to Cincinnati, Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt told CBS Sports the Steelers offense was doing the same thing, over and over.
"It was us giving them plays," said Pratt. "We knew what they were going to do. They like to do the same plays over and over."
Pratt was talking about the difference between the two halves.
In the first half, the Bengals gave up 212 yards and 20 points.
In the second, the Steelers mustered 139 yards and scored 10 points.
Speaking to the media after the game, Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was asked if he was worried the offense was getting too predictable.
"It's something you need to look at the tape and see what our tendencies are," said Pickett. "We've got to go out there and execute whatever is called."
That last part of the quote has been echoed by several of the offensive players this season, seemingly expressing frustration with offensive coordinator Matt Canada's schemes, while not directly calling him out.
The Steelers offense being predictable isn't a new statement.
When Randy Fichtner was running the offense in 2020, the Steelers started 11-0 and then quickly fell off a slope, and were embarrassed by the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
NFL insider Aditi Kinkhabwala said after that season, "I had multiple players on other teams tell me that (the Steelers' offense) was the easiest offense to prepare for in the NFL."
Based off of Pratt's comments, it doesn't seem like much has changed in almost two years.
