UPDATE: The Steelers have made it official. Heinz Field will now be known as Acrisure Stadium for the next 15 years.
According to 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi, the end of an era is close for the place where the Steelers play.
The new name of the stadium will be Acrisure Stadium, a Michigan-based brokerage firm.
Fillipponi says an announcement could come as soon as Tuesday.
Fillipponi also reports a web domain and Twitter handle have already been secured.
Acrisure specializes in insurance, reinsurance, real estate, cyber services and Asset Management.
The Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Acrisure is Greg Williams, a Michigan native.
Tull is part owner of the Steelers.
On Sunday evening, Poni tweeted:
“Breaking: Heinz Field is no more. The ketchup giant will not extend its name rights deal for 2022. Sources say a new name for the stadium could be announced this week,” Poni said on Sunday evening.
Heinz has had the naming rights to the stadium since it opened in 2001.
The Post-Gazette reported back in March that the Steelers were in discussions with Kraft Heinz to possibly extend the naming rights deal. Those talks have apparently fell through.
Acrisure also has the naming rights to an arena in Palm Springs, called Acrisure Arena, where the Coachella Valley Firebirds play, the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken.
The Firebirds are coached by former Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma.
