On Thursday offensive coordinator explained the lack of wide receiver Chase Claypool on the field toward the end of the Tennessee Titans game on Sunday.
“I think we are trying to get all the guys involved in certain times," said Canada. "It was just kind of a rotation we had going at that spot. It kind of worked out that way for certain drives. Nothing more specific than that.”
Nothing more than that? Really?
Colony isn’t buying it.
“I have heard tons of coach-speak since I’ve been in the biz and this may be the biggest crock of sh** I’ve heard from a coach in those 42-and-a-half years,” said Colony.
Claypool was targeted only twice on Sunday against Tennessee and had zero catches. He had a total number of 19 yards on two running plays.
Receiver Ray-Ray McCloud played two more snaps than Claypool and as the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac reports, Claypool reportedly got in an argument with an assistant coach on the sidelines Sunday.
In the previous game against Minnesota, Claypool posed for a first down with time ticking off the clock late in the game that would’ve given the Steelers at least one more play.
Earlier this week, Claypool posted a message to his Instagram page saying, “I will learn from my shortcoming and work my a** off for this team.”
