Former Steelers linebacker Chad Brown says when it comes to T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree, the tradition continues at that position for Pittsburgh.

Brown tell the Fan Morning Show that tradition is also why he believes Robert Spillane will be able to hold down the fort with Devin Bush out for the season.

“For the Steelers its’ such a different situation than some of the other teams in the league, they’ve essentially played the same style of defense for almost 30 years so when someone is asked to come in and be that next man up, it’s not as if they just grab some random person,” said Brown.

Brown adds they know exactly what they are looking for at each position.

“Whether it was Jason Gildon replacing Kevin Greene or Joey Porter and Clark Haggans or Chad Brown . . . these players who the Steelers front offices finds fits a well-known prototype for those particular positions,” said Brown.

While Spillane may not have the playing experience, Brown says that there’s a reason he is on the team.
