Former Steelers full back Tim Lester has died. He was 52.
Nicknamed “The Bus Drive” Lester was Hall of Fame running back Jerome “The Bus” Bettis’ blocking back both in their time with the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lester began his career with the Rams in 1992, before coming to Pittsburgh in 1995 where he spent four season.
He finished out his career with the Dallas Cowboys.
During his time with the Steelers, Lester appeared in 47 games for the Steelers with 26 receptions for 167 yards.
The Eastern Kentucky grad was inducted into the EKU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011. He was inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
He also received the NFL’s “Unsung Hero Award” in 1996 and 1997 for his community service.
Lester stayed close to football after retiring from the NFL, starting the New Found Life Football League and the Milton Steelers in Georgia. Lester also was a motivational speaker.
