The Shazier family has a new home.
Last Spring, retired Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier put his Fox Chapel home up for sale and in February the seven bedroom, 9,000 square-foot home for $2.3 million.
The Pittsburgh Business Times reports Ryan and his wife Michelle downsized by moving into a 4,900 square-foot home in Pine Township.
The move also saves them over $800,000.
Shazier was temporarily paralyzed after suffering a spinal contusion during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals in December 2017.
Last September, Shazier announced his retirement from football.
“You have been with me ever since I was drafted, through good times and rough times but never more than during my recovery,” said Shazier at the time.
Shazier also credits football for turning him into “a man, that would teach me how to live, how to chase success.”
“Football may have been taken away from me, but everything it gave me is still here inside,” Shazier added.
Shazier married Michelle Rodriguez in Pittsburgh two years ago, where he was able to dance at his own wedding.
Shazier has two children including one with Rodriguez.
Shazier is now in the sports broadcasting industry with a weekly podcast. Late last year, Shazier also established the Ryan Shazier Fund to help those dealing with spinal injuries
