Eight-year NFL veteran and former Steelers wide receiver Mike Williams has announced his retirement from football.
The Steelers acquired Williams in a trade with the New York Jets last November, in exchange for a 5th-round 2025 draft pick.
Williams made an immediate impact, catching a game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Russell Wilson to give the Steelers a 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders.
Over nine games (two starts) with the Steelers, Williams had nine catches for 132 yards with his only touchdown against the Commanders.
Williams was taken in the 1st round of the 2017 draft by the Chargers and selected 7th overall.
He led the NFL in receiving yards per reception in 2018 with 20.4.
Over 106 games, Williams had 330 catches for 5,104 yards and 32 touchdowns.
The 30-year-old returned this past offseason to the Charges on a one-year, $6 million deal but was placed on the PUP list earlier this week.
