With the way the Steelers are currently trending, it look like they will have a high draft pick in 2023, with even a top five possible.
The next draft is going to be a quarterback-rich one, with Alabama QB Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Tanner McKee out of Stanford just to name a few.
Only four games into his NFL career, Kenny Pickett is under fire from some fans that believe the Steelers should draft a quarterback if they get a high pick in 2023.
“3rd and 10 he has Pat Freiermuth open for a first down, he sails the ball . . . is that on Matt Canada? You tell me,” said Hoke pointing out several other examples of Pickett missing throws as well.
Pickett has struggled with former Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke critical of the rookie QB and his decision making and accuracy during the Cook & Joe Show Thursday.
Former Steelers safety and ESPN analyst Ryan Clark said if the Steelers get a high pick, they should consider taking a quarterback, even if they still believe in Pickett.
“You never know where they might be in this draft and this is going to be a quarterback-rich draft in which the last one wasn’t,” said Clark. “Just because we drafted you last year, doesn’t mean we have to keep you and you can look no further than the Arizona Cardinals drafting Kyler Murray one year after drafting Josh Rosen. “
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, tells The PM Team “I don’t think you rule out anything at this point” but it’s too early to tell and they need to see how the rest of the season pans out for Pickett.
