Things got a little heated during Steelers practice on Tuesday afternoon at St. Vincent College.
During a drill of running plays, two skirmishes broke out between the offense and defense.
The first one was between defensive captain Cam Heyward and running back Benny Snell Jr.
After the play, Snell apparently did something that angered Heyward. Nearly the entire defense had to hold Heyward back who was trying to get at Snell.
On the very next play, Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt and rookie receiver Calvin Austin got into it.
After Watt tackled Austin Hard, the two had to be separated.
93.7 The Fan’s sports director Jeff Hathhorn speculated that Watt may be wanted to test the rookie.
Fan Morning Show host Colin Dunlap says this isn’t new from Heyward.
“The most consistant thing at Steelers camp every season over the past decade is [Cam Heyward] is good for 2-3 explosive ‘don’t f--- with me’ moments. I’m okay with that,” said Dunlap.
Fights during training camp are not out of the ordinary, but it is a little unique that two happened on back-to-back plays.
Since this is the first time the Steelers have been in Latrobe in three years and not at, now Acrisure Stadium, the fans can see the practices in person. Warts and all.
