If you ask what holes the Steelers need to fill to become a better team, many people will point to the lack of a number two wide receiver.
But, two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Hoke believes the Steelers have a receiver corps that other teams would want.
His comments came during Hoke’s weekly segment on The Joe Show.
“We just don’t know yet what we have,” said Hoke about the receivers. “I still think we have some guys, we need (Pat) Freiermuth to get more involved in the game and we have Van Jefferson. We saw some balls that were thrown to Calvin Austin that .
. . I think in weeks coming up you’ll see him more involved.”
Hoke thinks that with Kupp on the wrong side of 30 you will be stunting the development of a younger receiver and that “there are only so many balls to go around.”
Hoke expects Wilson to be even better against the New York Giants on Monday Night.
“Let’s see what we got and its not always better to trade for someone when you got a lot of talent in that room that’s just not been tapped,” said Hoke.
“There’s a lot of teams that would love to have the wide receiving corps the Steelers have,” said Hoke.
Hoke says if something affordable pops up, the Steelers should take it, but don’t “sell the farm” for a receiver like Kupp.
