PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) According to one NFL.com writer, Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert is on of the best GM's in the league.
Gregg Rosenthal ranked the NFL's general managers from 1st to 22nd.
He said the remaining 10 GMs are still "too new."
Of the 22 GMs ranked, Rosenthal placed Colbert 3rd in the league.
Colbert of course is retiring after the upcoming draft so it makes the sense they are interviewing a large number of candidates to make sure they are making the right choice.
Rosenthal says of Colbert:
Few GMs did a better, steadier job drafting players over the previous few decades, re-signing the best ones and knowing when to say goodbye. Pittsburgh rarely panicked in free agency, yet didn't ignore value, hopping on proven players like Joe Haden when they suddenly became available. His best picks, from Ben Roethlisberger to David DeCastro to T.J. Watt, were made after patiently letting the board come to him.
Bills GM Grandon Beane/Sean McDermott ranked number one, followed by Les Snead of the Los Angeles Rams.
Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and Tampa Bay Bucs' Jason Licht round out the top five.
