PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Steelers are trying their hand at another player from the XFL while waiving a pair of cornerbacks.

Steelers signed former Michigan corner Lavert Hill and released injured corner Duke Dawson and recently acquired Isaiah Dunn. The 5’10”, 190-pound Hill had a pair of interceptions in four starts in the XFL last season and was named to the All XFL Team. A three-year starter at the University of Michigan, Hill had six career picks with a touchdown and 37 tackles. He was first-team All-Big 10 as a junior.

Hill has been with five NFL teams. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chiefs in April of 2020, signed with the Eagles upon his release in December of that year. Arizona signed Hill for a week in 2021 and he was then picked up and released by San Francisco. He was signed by the Browns last August, but waived in September.

The Detroit native initially committed to Penn State out of high school, but flipped to Michigan. Hill famously flipped the bird at Penn State fans after the Wolverines lost in Beaver Stadium in 2017. He would later apologize.
