A new NFL mock draft projects the Steelers making a big splash in the first round in April.

NFL Network Draft Analyst Chad Reuter has the Steelers making a deal with the New York Jets, trading up to pick North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell at number 10.
Reuter says that he think General Manager Kevin Colbert will do his best to have the team’s next starting quarterback in place before he retires after the draft.
He adds he believes the deal would cost next year’s first round draft pick and a third-rounder in the 2022 draft.
“Howell's production was down in 2021, but he showed the same leadership, arm strength and gumption during the Senior Bowl that was on display over the past three years at North Carolina,” said Reuter.
While it’s been reported the Steelers are interested in Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, Reuter has the Denver Broncos taking him one spot in front of Pittsburgh at number nine.
Reuter also goes into the second and third round of the draft, with the Steelers taking 6’5”, 345lbs Kentucky senior offensive tackle Darian Kinnard at pick 52.
In the third round, Reuter has the Steelers trading with the New England Patriots giving them the 85th overall pick and then taking 6’1”, 210lbs Cincinnati senior Bryan Cook at 99 with a projected compensatory pick.
