With the possibility that any quarterback the Steelers are interested in will be off the table by the time their #20 pick, mock drafts are looking toward the team improving the offensive line.

NFL Network's Analytics Expert Cynthia Frelund has her first mock out and has the Steelers taking an offensive tackle.

Frelund projects the Steelers picking 6' 7", 305 lbs Central Michigan senior Bernhard Rainmann.

According to Frelund, it would be best for the Steelers to find that player in free agency but, "the highest win-share scenario for the Steelers is to add versatility to the O-line in the draft -- especially with this developing talent, who has already flashed high upside and carries markers showing he can play both inside and outside. PFF shows Raimann only allowed 10 pressures on passing downs last season."

Raimann is a native of Austria where he played high school football.

Rainmann would be the first FBS player taken by the Steelers in the first round since Ben Roethlisberger in 2004.

Frelund has Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett as the first QB to go off the draft board at 11th to the Washington Commanders.

"Pickett is my 23rd-ranked player overall, but that isn't as much of a knock on the QBs as it might seem, since I rarely have a QB ranked higher than 10th in a given year," said Frelund.
