One ruled out for Steelers, two questionable for opener against Jets

As expected, one Steeler will be out for Sunday’s first game of the season in New York against the Jets, with two others questionable.

Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, who didn’t practice all week and was ruled out by Head Coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday won’t play.

Linebacker Nick Herbig is questionable with a hamstring injury. He was a limited participant all week in practice.

Popping up on the injury report on Friday is third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Thompson was also limited with a hamstring in practice.

The only other player that possibly won’t take the field on Sunday is defensive tackle Cam Heyward, who is in a contract dispute with the organization.

Heyward spoke to reporters on Friday, but didn’t shed any light on playing against the Jets.

The Steelers finally open up the 2025 season at 1 p.m. You can watch it on KDKA-TV.
