Pickett expected to play Saturday against Raiders

Mike Tomlin expects quarterback Kenny Pickett to return to the lineup for this Saturday’s game.

The Steelers head coach announced during his weekly news conference that the “concussion component” of his injury is behind him.

Tomlin added that if the team were to practice on Tuesday (they will practice Wednesday) Pickett would be able to be a full participant.

Picket just has a couple “boxes” to check to be able to return, according to Tomlin.

Mitch Trubisky played well in relief for Pickett against the Panthers in Carolina, going 17 for 22 with 179 yards. He had no touchdowns in the air but did rush for one and didn’t throw any interceptions after three the previous week.

Tomlin said Trubisky should be “congratulated” for his efforts.

Pickett left the game early against Baltimore after a hard tackle.

He was limited in practice all week last week, was listed as doubtful at the end of the week and ruled out before the game.

This is the second concussion Pickett has suffered this season.

He was knocked out in the Week Six again against Tampa but returned the next week against Miami.
