Two weeks ago, it was Snoop Dogg, on Sunday night before the Steelers host the New York Jets at Acrisure Stadium, it will be Pittsburgh’s own Michael Keaton that will be welcoming you to NBC.
The “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” star will star in a “cinematic opening sequence” for Sunday Night Football on NBC.
Keaton, who also hosts Saturday Night Live this weekend doesn’t hide his love for the Steelers in his comments.
“The Steelers unite us all. And no matter where you end up. It’s like it’s always part of your identity, you know?” says Keaton.
Keaton grew up in Robinson Township and went to Montour High School.
“When you’re from where I’m from – western PA, just outside of Pittsburgh, like a 15-minute drive to the stadium…football is kind of in your blood.”
Keaton also takes some time to take a shot at the Steelers’ New York opponent.
“Now tonight, the circus comes to town. I don’t mean any disrespect, or to demean any new, big acquisitions, but if you know you know, and so I think I can say with authority that all is not right in Gotham. You do realize the Steelers have had three coaches in the last 55 years, and the Jets have had two in the last two weeks.”
The Jets know better than to mess with Batman, right?
Southern rock star Charlie Daniels said it in the song “In America”: You just go and lay your hand On a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan And I think you're gonna finally understand
Keaton echoes those sentiments in his comments Sunday night.
“There aren’t enough things that unite us anymore. Come to Pittsburgh, you’ll see how great it is when something does that.”
Coverage begins on NBC at 7 p.m. Kickoff is 8:20.
