It’s been a full work week and Matt Canada is still apparently the Steelers offensive coordinator.
93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi is hearing that Canada will remain the OC through the 2023 season, a source told the PM Team host.
“99.9 percent Canada is back, that’s what I’m hearing,” said Poni reading a message.
“The point one percent is for Steelers fast one, like Russ Grimm and Mike Tomlin and Bruce Arians will be back before ‘retiring’,” added Poni.
A strong part of the fan base wanted to see Canada fired before the end of the season this year, but the offense did improve, especially in the run game.
“If that’s true, that’s a bad move by them, I think it’s them being complacent, I think it’s them being satisfied with an offensive turnaround that was largely overstated,” said Chris Mueller. “I think it’s a sign that Mike Tomlin wants to keep playing offense mostly the way they did down the stretch which is, I think we can run the ball well, I don’t want us to take a ton of shots in the passing game.”
Mueller also called it the “first big mistake of the offseason.”
The Steelers were toward the bottom of the league in point scored on the offensive side of the ball in 2022 and played only two games where they scored over 20 points, and one of those was a loss.
