Bye, bye, Bobby Trees.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Robert Woods is being released by the Steelers.
Rapoport adds that there is a possibility of the 33-year-old veteran receiver returning to Pittsburgh after cut-down day.
He says that Woods wants to play in 2025.
Woods signed a two-year deal worth $2 million, back in April.
The Steelers may want to bring him back at a cheaper price.
Known for his versatility, at this point he doesn’t do anything especially well, but can do a little of it all and is a willing blocker. He is also a willing leader who has played in a Super Bowl.
The 6-foot, 193-pound Woods, started four of the 15 games he played with Houston last year with 20 receptions for 203 yards.
Woods had a pair of 1,000-yard seasons with the Rams in 2018 and 2019, but hasn’t topped 570 yards in a season in the last four years. Overall Woods has played for four teams, a total of 12 NFL seasons with 683 receptions, 8233 yards, 12.1 yards-per catch and 38 touchdowns.
