The Steelers are reportedly releasing cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the organization has informed the veteran of the move.
The move will save the Steelers $4 million and should be enough to sign both returning quarterback Mason Rudolph, per reports and middle linebacker Kwon Alexander.
Alexander made $1.12 million last season and Rudolph isn’t expected to sign for much.
Drafted by the San Francisco, Witherspoon spent his first three seasons in the league with the 49ers before signing with the Seattle Seahawks, but was traded to the Steelers before the 2021 season for a fifth-round pick.
Witherspoon started in seven game for the Steelers over two seasons with four interceptions and 35 tackles.
