NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and several other reported the deal first, the Steelers later confirmed the trade.

There have been rumors over the past couple weeks that Ingram wanted out of Pittsburgh after seeing his role diminished, with NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala saying Kansas City made an offer last week but Pittsburgh wanted to avoid sending him to an AFC foe.

Kinkhabwala said on Tuesday that “there were ultimately no other suitors” for Ingram and were only able to get the sixth round pick.

Others has said that Ingram believes he is better than fellow outside linebacker Alex Highsmith.

At the beginning of the year, Ingram rotated at OLB with T.J. Watt and Highsmith, who were both dealing with groin injuries, but as they got healthier, Ingram saw in playing time diminish.

Ingram was ruled out of this past Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns with a groin injury of his own.

The 32-year-old out of South Carolina, played his first nine seasons in the NFL with the Chargers before signing with Pittsburgh in the offseason.

In six games with Pittsburgh, Ingram had 10 total tackles, one sack, six quarterback hits and one pass defended.
