As expected the Spillane-train will keep rolling in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers extended an offer to Exclusive Right Free Agent linebacker Robert Spillane back when free agency in the NFL began but according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, Spillane was traveling and was only able to sign it now.
With Spillane signing the one-year deal, he is currently the starting inside linebacker along with Devin Bush.
Spillane was impressive for the Steelers coming into a starting role after Bush was placed on the team's Reserve/Injured List with an ACL injury.
Spillane stonewalled Titans running back Derek Henry in his first start of the season and the next week in Baltimore got the team going with a Pick-six against Lamar Jackson.
Spillane would go on IR himself after hurting his knee against Washington. He would miss four weeks but came back in the Wild Card loss to Cleveland.
The 25-year-old finished the season with 43 total tackles, two sacks, four tackles for a loss, three QB hits and the previously mentioned interception.
