Rodgers tells McAfee Show he still needs more time

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers GM Omar Khan said last week at the NFL Combine that it won’t be like last year where the Steelers waited until May for Aaron Rodgers to decide on his future.
Wednesday on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said he needs more time.

The 42-year-old said if you are figuring he would make a decision today, he’s not.

“It’s March 4th, free agency starts in a week,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show. “I’ve spent a lot of time with my wife. I’ve talked to Mike (McCarthy). I’ve talked to Omar.
There has been no deadline or contract. There is nothing to debate between.”

“I’m a free agent, I’m enjoying time with my wife.”

Rodgers said he’s working out and ready, but there has been no progression in any talks or a decision at this point.

Last year Rodgers was able to use a week of mini-camp in June and training camp in Latrobe to bond with his teammates and be ready for the start of the season. He would know most of his teammates and spent 14 years with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy in Green Bay.

If Rodgers doesn’t decide before March 11, it would likely affect the Steelers activity in free agency with quarterbacks, or at least the level of quarterback they talk to. Not knowing before April 23rd might also impact if or when the Steelers draft a quarterback. They do have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard already under contract for the 2026 season.

The 42-year-old completed 65.7% of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, seven interceptions and won 10 of the 16 games he started in his only season in Pittsburgh in 2025.
