PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It appears quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (left pectoral) will be good to go on Sunday. The Steelers final injury report before they play the Bengals shows that Roethlisberger went full on Friday and is expected to start.
Linebacker T.J. Watt is questionable with a groin injury and was limited for the third straight day. He told reporters earlier that he is doing everything he can to play on Sunday but needs to be smart about it.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without wide receiver Diontae Johnson (knee), linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin) and defensive end Carlos Davis (knee) when they play Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Johnson injury is especially frustrating, since he was hurt on a meaningless play at the end of the Raiders game.
Other good news, cornerback Joe Haden (groin) and linebacker Devin Bush (groin) are both good to go as well.
Linebacker Marcus Allen and cornerback Justin Layne who missed practice on Thursday with an abdomen and Achilles respectively also went full on Friday.
Watt believes in Jamir
Good chance if he doesn't sub for TJ Watt, second-year linebacker Jamir Jones will at least play a number of snaps on Sunday. Jones didn't make a NFL team out of Notre Dame last year, worked during the offseason after holding odd jobs. Able to make the Steelers with a solid training camp.
"Jamir has been a spark ever since he's been here," Watt said Friday. "I think you've seen throughout the preseason whether it's special teams or playing as an outside backer. He's been able to provide a change of pace for us as an outside linebacker."
"He plays the run really well. His pass rush package is developing too. Just continuing to see progression from him and excited to see what he can bring to the table."
Watt adds the more opportunities you get. The more you have to deliver. Jones played one snap on defense against Buffalo and 15 against the Raiders.
"The longer you are around guys like me, Melvin and Alex," Watt said. "If you want to absorb as much information as you can, you can. We are all open books."
"He's been a guy who's asked a lot of questions. Who has paid close attention to all of the drills that we've done. You've seen the improvement on a week-to-week basis."
Najee Fantasy
Asked if he's getting any questions on social media about his lack of production on fans' fantasy teams. Najee Harris initially said no, then called out one of his buddies.
"One friend did. He was kind of upset at me week one. His name is Tre, but his real name is Worlington. So if you all put this out, said Worlington said it."
"I hung up on him."
