Okay, that's a click-bait headline but Matt Canada did, in fact, give up his headset to Ben Roethlisberger at practice. Ben Roethlisberger, Junior, that is and also to his younger brother, Brodie.

Ben spent some special teams period downtime tossing footballs to his sons earlier this week and, quite honestly, the 9-year old and 5-year old kids looked pretty good. Of course, they do come from notable athletic genes.

"That was so much fun," Ben smiled the next day. "They've come to Saint Vincent before but to have them here was really neat." Then after they were done tossing the football, things got neater.

"Coach Canada let them call plays in the last period. They were in my headset talking and the first time they talked, the other QBs looked over, like, 'who is that calling the plays?,'" Ben laughed. "Luckily when (the plays) went in Coach called 'em again 'cause I don't think they can understand my kids like I can."

What did they call?

"That was the funny thing," Roethlisberger said. "When we got home they were both excited and they told my wife they got to call plays and she asked 'did you call passes or runs' and they said they didn't know. I told Matt, 'they call pretty good plays, don't they?' It was fun; they were just calling wristband numbers so it was easy."

But as our friend, Dale Lolley pointed out – what about daughter Baylee since Ben had said she was the one who quizzed him with flash cards. "She would have been a lot better," Ben grinned. "I should have given her a chance."

Maybe next time, Baylee.
