Steelers sign kicker off practice squad, Ben to play

Boswell, Pouncey, Hilton and Conner likely out

The Steelers will be without kicker Chris Boswell when they take on Washington Monday afternoon.

Hours before the game, Pittsburgh signed kicker Matthew Wright to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

Wright signed with the Steelers in April of 2019.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who did not practice all week and was listed as questionable on Saturday is expected to play according to reports from the Post-Gazette.

Cornerback Mike Hilton is out for Monday's game.

Center Maurkice Pouncey was not activated off the list and J.C. Hassenauer will likely get the start.

Running back James Conner also remains on the COVID list and won't play on Monday. Even if he was activated he hasn't practiced in over a week.

Offensive lineman Jerald Hawkins was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and also activated outside linebacker Anthony Coyle to the active roster as a COVID replacement.

Coyle was activated last week against Baltimore and has spent all other time on the practice squad.

Coyle was most recently with the XFL's New York Guardians.
