PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Roman Wilson had his first NFL touchdown to total four receptions for 74 yards, Calvin Austin is just back from injury, but the Steelers are adding to its receiver group. And it’s a player who has played with Aaron Rodgers before.
Reported on Sunday and finalized Monday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler first to report wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling plans to sign with the Steelers. The 31-year-old was the Packers fifth-round pick in 2018 out of South Florida and North Carolina State. Valdez-Scantling played in five games with the Niners with four catches for 40 yards before being released on October 18, a day after being put on IR.
In four seasons with Rodgers and the Packers, Valdes-Scantling started 39 of 59 games with 123 receptions for 2,153 yards, an 17.5 average with 13 touchdowns. In 2020, he led the NFL with a 20.9 average per catch on 33 receptions for 690 yards. He also caught six touchdowns that year.
Valdes-Scantling hasn’t played a full season since 2023 with the Chiefs where he caught 21 passes for 315 yards. The Steelers will be his sixth NFL team.
