PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – From a nose tackle with an interception to Pat Freiermuth and Van Jefferson catching touchdowns, the BIG plays from the Steelers 27-14 win against the Browns on Sunday. It’s the Steelers second 10-win season in three years with four games to play.
1st quarter
· Wondering how long it would take for TJ Watt to make an impact play, first Browns offensive play, Watt comes off the edge and tackles Nick Chubb for a 5-yard loss. It was followed on third down sack by Alex Highsmith on his third play back from injury
· FG, despite getting the ball at the Cleveland 36-yard line and getting a 20-yard Najee Harris run on first down, the Steelers had a penalty on 3rd and 1 and settled for a 30-yard Chris Boswell make (5 plays, 24 yards, 2:30), 3-0
· Jameis Winston 20 yards to Elijah Moore helped flip the field
· TD, 3rd and 9, Winston scrambles, just avoided stepping over the line of scrimmage to find Jerry Jeudy for a 35-yard score in the seam (7 plays, 70 yards, 3:42), 7-3 Browns
2nd quarter
· Nothing going on for the offense, nose tackle Keeanu Benton intercepts a screen pass and returns it 11 yards to the Browns 31
· Sputtering for two plays, Browns corner Greg Newsome (who was tangled up with George Pickens on the last play of the game in Cleveland) commits pass interference against Calvin Austin on 3rd and 7, ball to the Cleveland 12.
· TD, Harris 1-yard run on 1st and goal (5 plays, 31 yards, 2:18), 10-7 Steelers
· FG, Some tough runs by Jaylen Warren and Russell Wilson ran for a pair of first downs leading to Boswell hitting a 54 yarder into a tough wind at the open end (11 plays, 45 yards, 5:39), 13-7
· Missed FG, after 11 plays to get to the Steelers 21, Dustin Hopkins missed a 38 yarder
3rd quarter
· Missed FG, after a 61-yard kickoff return and a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty on Joey Porter gave Cleveland the ball at the Steelers 21, Hopkins missed again, this one wide right from 43 yards
· Following the missed kick 3rd and 9 after a pair of failed plays, Wilson is flushed out of the pocket and finds Pat Freiermuth for 21-yard first down.
· TD, Wilson fake to Warren, who had 31 total yards on the drive, and sprint right and quick throw and nice catch on a low ball by Van Jefferson for 10-yard score (8 plays, 67 yards, 4:03), 20-7
· Elandon Roberts eats up Ford for 5-yard loss on 4th and 1, setting the Steelers up at the Cleveland 46
· Mike Williams pulls in an underthrown pass with one hand while spinning on the sideline for a 22-yard gain on 3rd and 6
· TD, Wilson with a perfect seam pass to Freiermuth for 20-yard touchdown (5 plays, 46 yards, 1:55), 27-7
4th quarter
· Heyward with his second sack of the game followed by an unsportsmanlike penalty on Cleveland to take them out of potential field goal range and force a punt
· TD, Browns go on a long drive that eats up about a third of the fourth quarter ending on a 15-yard pass from Winston to David Njoku (14 plays, 79 yards, 5:47), 27-14
· Wilson finds Scotty Miller on the sidelines with a diving catch keeping his feet inbounds for a 20-yard gain on 3rd and 6
· Cordarrelle Patterson fumbles giving the ball back to Cleveland
· 2 plays after the fumble, James Pierre intercepts Winston and returns it to the Steelers 36. It’s the third interception of his career and first since 2022
· Ben Skowronek recovers muffed punt at Browns 20 with 2:53 left
