Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin will be back in 2024 and likely beyond.

Speaking during his final news conference on the 2023 season, Tomlin said he expects a contract extension when the appropriate time comes.

He also addressed rumors that he would be stepping down from coaching for a year or leaving the organization.

He shot it down saying, “no”, if he considered taking time off.

“Yes, I expect to be back,” said Tomlin.

“I don’t’ image it’s going to be an issue . . . my mindset is to coach this football team,” Tomlin said speaking about a contract extension.

Tomlin said his “level of go” has only intensified over the past 17 years and added he loves coaching football.

“Man, I just like coming to work man, my cardkey works, I’m going to keep doing so,” said Tomlin.

Tomlin usually signs an extension at St. Vincent during Training Camp, but with the Steelers needing an offensive coordinator, Tomlin said its important an extension gets done so the new OC, likely coming from the outside, will know there is stability.

But, he did say the contract will get done when it gets done.

“Security is cool, but it’s not a top priority for me, I’ve seen a lot, I’m not job scared.”

Owner Art Rooney II told the Post-Gazette they plan to extend Tomlin.
