In his first zoom press conference of the season, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that returning quarterback Josh Dobbs will be the team's third string quarterback when Pittsburgh heads to New York to play the Giants on Monday night.
Tomlin also said that he likes the "floor" Dustin Colquitt provides for the Steeers adding the veteran is a "savvy and seasoned holder."
Colquitt replaces 5-year punter Jordan Berry, who was released on Monday.
Tomlin also spoke about safety Sean Davis returning to the team and says he could have a role on special teams and adds depth on defense.
The experience that Dobbs and Davis have with the Steelers previously will help get them caught up quickly for Monday night's game.
"They can be ready for us in a quicker fashion," said Tomlin.
Tomlin says the team has yet to make a decision this week at right tackle, adding both Zach Banner and Chukwuma Okorafor could both be starters and a decision will be made as the week progresses.
Tomlin also said guard David DeCastro did not practice on Monday, still dealing with a soft tissue injury and "we'll see what tomorrow holds."
When it comes to preparing for the Giants, Tomlin says he believes they are at a disadvantage.
The Giants are entering the 2020 season with a new coach and staff so there isn't any tape for the Steelers to study.
"There is some concerns about the unknown," said Tomlin but added the same applies to all other NFL teams after the preseason was canceled.
Tomlin adds their staff is pretty much the same so Judge can get a better idea of how the Steelers will play on offense and defense.
