Tomlin supports DK Metcalf but doesn't 'condone' his behavior

Mike Tomlin has spoken about the situation around the incident involving DK Metcalf and a fan in Detroit during this Sunday’s game, but he didn’t say much.

During his weekly news conference Tomlin said he spoke to Metcalf about the situation that resulted in a two-game suspension.

"He did explain it to me why he did what he did and I certainly don't condone the behavior but I support DK,” said Tomlin, adding an appeals hearing is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Metcalf is hoping to have his suspension lowered.

Tomlin added that he didn’t have much to add because there could be “legal ramifications” with the situation, but didn’t go into details one what that could mean.

Speaking from a football perspective, Tomlin said Metcalf being out will give someone like Roman Wilson an opportunity “who has been working extremely hard and growing throughout the course of this thing but had his role reduced in recent weeks.”

Wilson has seen his opportunities dwindle with the additions of Adam Thielen and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to the active roster.

Reporters kept trying to get something out of Tomlin, who remained tight-lipped during the news conference.
