ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Williams had other teams offer him a contract but he “wanted to stay in Pittsburgh.”
Williams has expressed his desire to stay in Pittsburgh in the past.
The 31-year-old Williams had 70 total tackles and 3 sacks last year at interior linebacker.
Over his eight-year career in Pittsburgh, Williams has 479 total tackles, 20 sacks and 50 tackles for a loss. He's also known as an emotional leader of the defense and now he returns with Devin Bush back healthy and Robert Spillane signed to a new contract.
The news comes on the same day the Steelers re-signed free agent Josh Dobbs to a one-year deal.
